Šariš Ponds and Sarus Cycle Bridge. Our easiest route.
4.5 km of flat asphalt from the rental. EuroVelo 11 cycle path past four Šariš fishing ponds, through floodplain forest and grain fields, to the wooden 84-metre Sarus cycle bridge — designed as a replica of Šariš Castle towering above. No climbing, no walking sections. Suitable for every scooter, including first-timers.
Jarková → industrial zone Rybníky → bridge. On EuroVelo 11.
Head out from Jarková street going north, join the EuroVelo 11 cycle path in the Rybníky industrial zone on Sabinovská street. From there a flat 3 km past the four ponds, through fragrant floodplain forest and wheat fields, straight to the wooden cycle bridge. The route is part of the international EuroVelo 11 trail (Athens → Nordkapp).

Three stops, one photo.

Four Šariš ponds
Right after Veľký Šariš, four ponds line the road through a recreational zone. Benches, shelters, fragrant floodplain forest. Picnic spot in summer, bird symphony in spring, golden colours in autumn. Free public access.
Sarus cycle bridge — castle replica
An 84-metre long, 3-metre wide wooden bridge over the Torysa river. Built in medieval castle style — the design model was the actual Šariš Castle ruin towering above it. Cantilevered viewing deck on the central support, north and south facing. Atypical landmark, the only of its kind in Slovakia.
View of Šariš Castle
From the bridge and along the pond route you'll see the Šariš Castle ruin on the hill above town. If you want to actually visit the castle, expect 30-45 min of walking from the parking lot — see tip at the bottom. We'd rather recommend staying on the bridge route and adding a visit to Šariš Brewery.
All three scooters. Route on anything.
100% asphalt + zero climbing means this route is accessible on every scooter in our fleet. First ride? Family with kids (16+)? You're good.
Kugoo G4
The most powerful in the fleet — biggest range and best comfort. On this easy route you'll have a huge reserve left, so you can happily add more loops or take on harder sections.
Kugoo G2
Everyday all-rounder — plenty on flat, with pneumatic tires for a smooth ride. Comfortably covers the 9 km return.
Kugoo G3
More powerful with longer range. Comfortable for groups with kids or anyone who wants extra range to enjoy the ride more.

Six things to know.
Local recommendations from people who ride this route every week. When to go, what to bring, where to stop.
Best time
Morning (8:00 – 10:00) for quiet, glassy ponds. Or evening (17:00 – 19:00) for golden bridge light. More cyclists around lunchtime on Saturdays/Sundays.
What to bring
Water, camera, sunglasses. Helmet provided. Benches at the ponds — bring a snack for a picnic. No restrooms on route, use ours before departure.
Photo spots
Cantilevered viewing deck mid-bridge — view north (Šariš Castle) and south (Torysa river). Early morning mist on the ponds. From the bridge, the castle reflected in the water.
Combine with
For a longer ride, continue past the bridge to Šarišské Michaľany (another 3.7 km, full asphalt). Or come back through town and stop at Šariš Brewery for a local beer.
Rain & winter
Full asphalt = rideable in light rain (all scooters IP54). Heavy rain not recommended — wooden bridge gets slippery. Winter to -2°C OK, no snow.
Families with kids
Route suitable for teens (16+) on their own scooter. Younger kids must ride on a bike with child seat (we don't offer those). Bridge has railings, safe.
Šariš Castle — beautiful, but not for a scooter.
The 13th-century castle ruin (570 m a.s.l., views of the Tatras, seven nearby castles, Hungary and Poland through binoculars) is 4 km from us. But 2.9 km from the parking lot below the castle requires walking — yellow-marked forest trail, 200 m of climb, 30-45 min uphill. You leave the scooter at the parking lot, unsecured, at your own risk.
Opening hours (with services): May-Oct Tue-Sun 10-18, April Sat-Sun 10-17, Nov-March Sat-Sun 10-16. Entry: courtyard €3 adult / €2 child, Donjon tower €2 extra. Phone: +421 919 062 090 (caretaker).
Our recommended plan: scooter to the ponds and bridge (this route) → return scooter → drive or take public transport to the castle parking lot → walk up. The castle is beautiful, but don't stress about combining it with a scooter.
Three more routes from the rental.
After the ponds you can continue further, or try a completely different direction. Here are our other recommendations.
