8.5 km on the international EuroVelo 11 (6,550 km Athens → Nordkapp, 11 countries). Our local section is 100 % asphalt cycle path, 3 m wide, flat. Best surface quality in eastern Slovakia, suitable for all scooters. Jednota grocery, benches, golden Slovak cafe vibes await.
Jarková → Sarus cycle bridge → Michaľany. Full asphalt.
Head out from Jarková, join the EuroVelo 11 cycle path in Rybníky industrial zone. 3 km past the Šariš ponds and through fragrant floodplain forest to the Sarus cycle bridge. Past the bridge, 500 m alongside a forest nursery, rest area, then 450 m on a tarmac access road, junction with the „Veľký Šariš – gardens, 314 m a.s.l." sign. From the junction, 1.7 km to the marker by the Imuna plant in Šarišské Michaľany, plus 700 m to the village centre.

Marked with a red „C" or white-green EuroVelo 11 panels. Fully completed section (since 2020). Connection further north (Sabinov, Pečovská Nová Ves, Lipany all the way to Mníšek nad Popradom — Polish border) is signed but uses long detours. New cycle path to Sabinov planned in coming years.
Three highlights on one route.
Sarus cycle bridge and ponds
The route passes directly through Rybníky recreation zone and across the 84-metre wooden Sarus cycle bridge (Šariš Castle replica). Best stretch is between the bridge and the forest nursery — fragrant floodplain forest, silence, scents of woodland.
Part of the „Beast of the East"
EuroVelo 11 is a 6,550 km international cycle route from Athens to Norway's Nordkapp. Cyclists call it „Beast of the East". 203 km cross Slovakia, of which 9.3 km pass through Veľký Šariš (8.2 % of the entire Slovak section). You're riding it right now.
Šarišské Michaľany — Jednota and strawberries
At the destination by the Imuna plant lies the village of Šarišské Michaľany. The centre is 700 m from the cycle path. Jednota restaurant, local grocery, friendly locals. In season (June) the strawberry ice cream from Jednota is a EuroVelo cyclist classic, around €1.
Three machines, one route.
17 km return on flat + asphalt. All three Kugoo scooters handle it comfortably. For less experienced riders we recommend the Kugoo G2.
Kugoo G2 PICK
Most comfortable choice for 17 km return. Pneumatic tires, you ride relaxed — plenty of range for detours. Ideal everyday all-rounder.
Kugoo G3
More powerful, longer range. Even though no off-road is needed here, the G3 moves carefree — you can add a detour to Šariš Brewery or the castle parking lot without range anxiety.
Kugoo G4
Top of the range — more than enough for this route, but perfect if you want to ride faster or add Solivar. Longest range in the fleet, top spec.

Six notes from regulars.
For some this will be the first international cycle route ride. Tips so you enjoy it fully without surprises.
Best time
Morning (8:00 – 10:00) fewest cyclists, calm. Afternoon (15:00 – 18:00) more people but warm and great photo light. Avoid Sunday lunchtime — most cars and cyclists.
What to bring
Water (no pubs on route, only at the ponds and in Michaľany), cash (Jednota, strawberry ice cream, optionally restaurant), phone. Helmet from us. In summer sunscreen — part of the route is open.

Combine with
Extension: past Michaľany the detour goes via Ostrovany to Sabinov (+10 km, but on roads). Better to return to Šariš and finish the day at Šariš Brewery.
Bad weather
Light rain OK (asphalt + IP54 scooters), route stays rideable. Heavy rain or strong wind (>40 km/h) — pick the short Brewery route instead. The wooden bridge is slippery when wet — go carefully.
